Thanks for being a part of the Fellowship Dallas Technical Crew. Our mission is to facilitate and enhance the worship service and other events at Fellowship Bible Church Dallas. Since many of us have not worked on a tech crew before, I thought it would be good to state the following. Please take a few minutes and look this over and please contact me with any questions you may have.
Thanks,
Kathy Prather

Working in a technical crew environment . . .
• The number one guideline to working on a crew is this… In matters of judgment and taste, always defer to whoever is responsible for the results. Sometimes requests maybe given that are from the worship leader or pastor. The one making the request may not have time to fully explain why he or she is making the request. If you disagree with a decision, please wait until after the service to voice your objection. If, on the other hand, you cannot do what is asked, or you know that doing it will cause other problems, please feel free to voice your concerns. The Crew member responsible for matters of judgment and taste is the director. Staff members responsible at any given time are Gary, Russ Bishop and Kathy Prather. During this transitional time, Jason Gray and Eva Tarbutton are also working directly with Kathy and Russ.
We always appreciate your suggestions…but on Sundays in the Worship Center Kathy will defer to Russ Bishop on any tech issues; Due to the fact that Russ was involved in the tech installation in the building and he knows better than anyone what will or can work best; 2) On a Sunday morning, there isn’t time to change what Russ has set up and 3) Russ has Gary’s confidence and that is key.
Also, since we are undergoing major changes (with replacing the Worship Leader and Technical Director) it’s imperative that we keep consistent on quality on a Sunday morning or night Worship experience.
• Please be on time for your position’s call time. If you’re not, we may have to pull somebody from another position, possibly leaving other work left undone or creating undo stress for other crew members. IF for any reason you are running late, please call Kathy or Eva to inform.
• Keep your eye on the ball. Stay on your game, pay attention, however you want to say it. Please keep your mind on what you’re doing. This should be enjoyable for everyone, but there is really no room for horseplay during the services.
• In the main auditorium, please be at your station and listening to your intercom 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the service. Also, please stay on your intercom one minute or so following the service for any directions. The director will give an all clear for everyone to get off intercom.
• Wearing an intercom tends to make people forget what’s around them. Our job is to be as invisible as possible. Please be aware that we’re right in the middle of the worship center, and people are watching us. Conversations should be limited to the necessary production talk. Many are the people who’ve regretted something they’ve said, not realizing at the time who was listening.
It’s easy to joke around on the intercom and we have all done it, but please let’s keep on track. Mainly, let’s not be a distraction for anyone in the worship center. As long as you are not in the Worship Center, please speak up into the intercom.
Lastly, if you are given a direction, it’s not always necessary to answer. For example, if the director gives an instruction to the camera operator, it is enough to simply follow the instruction and not answer the director verbally.
